Now, I don’t want to toot my own horn here but I’m really feeling like I have nailed my base. I’ve been through the completely matt phase and the I-have-gone-overboard-with-the-bronzer phase but now I feel like I have a fail-safe base and I want to share it with you.
I have a combination skin, it’s generally pretty clear (I’ll pretend this spot on my chin hasn’t got it’s own post code) but I tend to get some slightly greasy patches but then a few dry patches too so it’s a mixed bag.
The first step is always a moisturiser. I don’t tend to use a primer at the moment because I find it makes my skin a bit greasy looking so I opt for a light moisturiser. At the minute I am loving the Estee Lauder Day wear one with good old spf15.
I use the L’Oreal True Match foundation and slap that on with a real techniques stippling brush then bop a slightly damp beauty blender all over for a flawless and well blended finish. My new best friend is the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and I am absolutely in love with this – the price is amazing for the quality and wear time. After dabbing that in I like to add a bit of colour and some much needed cheek bone definition. Staying on the collection theme I have been using the Blush and Glow face pallet and I use the bronzer for some contouring (not forgetting the nose area for my big hooter) and either of the blushers for a really natural flush of pink. You can go steady on all of these powders because they are highly pigmented; a light hand is key.
The final step, and my favourite part, is setting it all in place. I’m not a huge fan of a matte finishing powder but I do want something to set the foundation in place while keeping that glow I have created. I so desperately wanted the hourglass ambient lightling palette but when I stumbled across what I think is a drug store dupe I was mega excited. It’s the Glow All Out powder from the Soap and Glory range, it just beautiful and definitely the star of the show! It’s so soft and finely milled that when applied all over your face it just gives an amazing glow and a lit-from-within look.
I’m pretty happy with this set up at the moment as it works for both day and night with minimal thinking involved – win!
Has anyone else used this Soap and Glory powder? What’s your thoughts?
