Spectrum Makeup Brushes

Spectrum Makeup BrushesI’ve been in the market for a decent set of makeup brushes for a while now so when my friend introduced me to the brand Spectrum I had to get my hands on some and try them out.

First things first, let me just say wow. How beautiful are they? With countless hours watching beauty videos and reading my favourite blogs, I couldn’t believe I hadn’t heard of this brand before. Many makeup brushes are quite simple with a black handle and metal trim but these beauties just blow them out of the water in the looks department.

I opted for the ones with baby pink handles and ombre blue bristles but they were all so unusual – you have to check them out for some serious eye candy! With some brushes sporting a turquoise handle and pink bristles, others have a funky multi-coloured metal trim; it took me an unnecessary amount of time to decide which set I needed to add to my stash!

It’s not all about the looks though, and even though they looked great and the price was on point (£30 for this contour set is such good value) I was really sceptical about how the quality would fair against some of the more expensive brands.

One thing I picked up on straight away as I eagerly opened my package (which came in just 3 days by the way) was the feel of the brushes and I don’t mean the bristles – although these are super soft! They are really weighty and sturdy which makes them feel like a good quality, expensive brush set. They come presented in a pink plastic wallet too which would be handy for travelling.

So that’s first impressions sorted, let me talk you through the set:

The Flat Top BufferSpectrum Makeup Brushes

This looks like a great foundation buffer to really work the base into the skin and create a flawless finish. Although I’m a big fan of the beauty blender for finishing touches I think this is great for initially working the product in and getting the ball rolling.

The Domed Buffer

Spectrum Makeup Brushes

This is designed to further work in your foundation after the flat top buffer but I really want to use this for contouring. The shape and size of this brush looks like it’s going to be bang on for creating some serious cheek bones.

The Tulip Powder Brush

Spectrum Makeup Brushes

This brush comes to a slight point and is great for general powdering. I have used this with my finishing powders and the soft texture of the brush really helps to blend everything in evenly rather than getting all of your powder in one spot.

The Angled Brush

Spectrum Makeup Brushes

This is ideal for blusher as it’s got a nice surface area to really blend your blusher on the apples of your cheeks.

All in all I couldn’t be happier with my purchase, all I need now is a pretty pot to put them in. I think they are amazing quality, the price is great and they are cruelty free so I definitely want to get my paws on the set for eyes to complete my collection. You have to be quick though, they sell out in no time so sign up to their mailing list pronto!

Have you tried any spectrum brushes before? What did you think?
