There are some amazing highlighters on the market right now and one that’s got enough hype to outshine all the rest is the BECCA Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop. This must have highlighter has become somewhat of a cult classic so it was only right that I got my hands on one.
I currently have a few drugstore highlighters which I use most days but I wanted to try a high end one that gave me a super glowy highlight. When the package arrived I could wait to rip it open! The packaging is right up my street it’s made of a dark rubber-type material with a brushed chrome top, perfect for putting on display on my makeup table.
As I opened the compact, the colour is not what I was expecting. As the name suggests, I was expecting a light champagne colour but in fact what you get in the pan is definitely more on the gold side. Don’t that put you off though, if you’re looking for an extreme highlight this could be your go-to. I dipped my finger in and gave it a swatch and I was instantly mesmerised by its shimmery goodness. I used a real techniques Bold Metals 100 Arched Powder Brush to apply it to my cheek bones as its pretty flat in shape and the perfect size.
A light hand is key to applying this highlighter as its highly pigmented and you can easily go overboard. Apply a little at a time and build it up until you have the effect you want. The powder is a really nice formula but, as is the case with most powders, it doesn’t seem to last that long so I’m really interested to find out how the new cream version compares.
The verdict? I want to say something like “this highlighter is amazing on a night out when you want to ramp up the glow factor” but the fact is I think I’m just going to wear this non stop in a quest for Kendall Jenner’s cheekbones.
What high end highlighters do you rave about?
