Stumbling across dupes for expensive products is something that I get a right kick out of. It must be that sneaky feeling, like you’ve sussed out a secret and have cheated the system or something. It just makes me feel mega smug!
On a recent trip to Superdrung, I found a whole new sub section of the brand Makeup Revolution (who do great dupes of the Lorac Pro Palette by the way) called I Heart Makeup. From first glance I instantly twigged onto the similarities. There were versions of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palettes everywhere so I rolled my sleeves up and got involved!
The first thing I picked up was the Salted Caramel Palette which is heavily inspired by the Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Too Faced palette. The colours are near enough spot on and even the order they appear in the palette is pretty much the same. For such a cheap palette at £7.99 these eyeshadows are amazing, especially the shimmery colours. I have used nearly all of them now and there are so many different looks that you can create from just this one product. I can report that they work great with a little primer as a base and last for me all day. Not as pigmented as the original but, for a £31 price difference, I’m happy to spend a few extra seconds building the colour up. It even smells like salted caramel which may not be to everyone’s taste but, lets face it, you’re hardly going to smell it when it’s on your eyelids!
The warm orange tones along with the bronze colours are my favourite but that pop of teal is a very welcome addition in my eyes. This palette is ideal for someone just starting out with makeup or someone who loves to feel smug with an cheap drugstore find!
The second product I picked up (and I could have picked up many more for just £2.99) was the Lip Lava in the shade Shockwave; a great dupe for the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks (which are 6 times more expensive – WOW). It’s a hybrid of a liquid lipstick and a lipgloss in that it has an intense colour and great staying power, but it has a glossy finish so it doesn’t feel dry at all on the lips. The formula is smooth and easy to apply with a soft, angled applicator plus, it contains Vitamin E and smells like cake – so a winner all round ay?
I love to spread the word about amazing dupes on the highstreet and I normally pass these tips on to my mum. I got her onto the Makeup Revolution Radiance Palette (which is an amazing dupe for the Hourglass powders FYI) and she was straight on it.
What amazing dupes have you found recently that I have to get my hands on?
