charlotte tilbury makeup

They say money can’t buy happiness but it can buy makeup and that’s pretty much the same thing, right? Getting my hands on some luxury bits and bobs every now and then is what I love to do best. Sometimes it’s not worth spending loads of money on makeup (more on that here) but when you want something truly special it’s nice to splash out and have something a bit fancy.

A brand that I regularly stalk at the beauty counters is Charlotte Tilbury. I love the whole feel of the brand and the products that I have tried from them so far are beautiful, oh and the packaging is my favourite!

I have my eye on many more lipsticks (it’s the dream to own the full collection one day) but I really want to try the eye creams and the magic foundation too. Just a few more pennies to save up then yeh?!

I started with a the Matte Revolution Lipstick in ‘Lost Cherry’. The colour is like a bright red cherry, as the name would suggest, but with a hint of pink. The colour somehow brightens my face and makes my teeth look white which is a bonus! On reflection, it’s not my most worn lipstick because it doesn’t go with everything but I love to whip it out now and again when I just have something simple on the eyes. The weighty packaging is rose gold and even down to the shape of the bullet and the Charlotte Tilbury name subtly etched on the inside, it all makes the experience of using a Charlotte Tilbury product feel that little bit more special.

I have one colour from the Hot Lips range too which is based around some of the famous faces Charlotte Tilbury has worked with as a make-up artist. The shade ‘Kidman’s Kiss’ is also a matte finish and was created to suit Nicole Kidman. Even though my skin tone isn’t as fair, I think it’s a great all round nude colour for everyday. I sometimes layer this over different lip liners, either more pink or a slightly darker mauve shade, which creates my own personalised look and gives me more options.

I have yet to try any other finish of her lipsticks but the Matte Revolution ones are soft, creamy and almost velvet like in texture so they won’t suck all the moisture out of your lips if you want to wear them for a full day.

The latest Charlotte Tilbury item I bought (and it definitely won’t be the last) is the Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette in the shade light to medium. It includes a perfect bronzer that’s not too orange and just gives a sunkissed look to your face but also means you can use it to sculpt your features a little bit too. The highlighter is a golden shade but it’s not to shimmery so it’s perfectly acceptable for every day. Both powders are in a pretty, slimline compact which makes it ideal for travelling around with.

It was pretty pricey but I was lucky enough to have a voucher to spend at House of Fraser so I used that to fund my splurge. When I’m spending that much money on a face palette (or any item of make-up for that matter) I want it to be used every day. I’m not one of these people who likes to save expensive makeup for a special occasion , I want to get my wear out of it and slap it on my face everyday. That’s why, when I bought the Bronze & Glow palette I purposely chose it with every day use in mind.

Charlotte Tilbury as a make-up brand is still relatively new but, in my opinion, she’s doing everything just right. I’ve seen a few videos of her working on her many celebrity friends including the likes of Kate Moss and Kim Kardashian and her whole personality I think makes me love her products that little bit more. And what’s even better is that Cult Beauty have started stocking Charlotte Tilbury stuff on their website too making it even more accessible. Good news for my face, not so good news for my wallet!

Is there a luxury brand that you absolutely love and want everything from?
